Course Details

COURSE LENGTH: 12 WEEKS
COURSES STARTING ON JUNE 5 AND AUGUST 14

Our JavaScript Course is focused on turning noncoders into well-rounded, versatile coders. From day one, we’ll be working with you to get you prepared for an entry-level coding job. You’ll get hands-on experience and develop the soft skills that you need to land your dream job. Our instructors won’t lecture you from a book or expect you to watch hours of tutorial videos. Instead, they’ll walk you through the JavaScript fundamentals, help you expand your coding knowledge, and give you the tools you need to become a JavaScript professional.

  • Weeks 1-3

    During the first 3 weeks you will learn:

    • The basics of HTML and CSS by writing code
    • Begin working on a Store App
    • Deploy an application
    • Create a responsive web page
    • Setup a localhost using Node.js
    • The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
    • And more…

  • Weeks 4-8

    During weeks 4-8 you will learn:

    • How to apply a full stack development life cycle to an application
    • How to build a Node.js web application
    • New concepts based on previously learned languages and frameworks
    • Explore other front end technologies including: GIMP, PhotoShop, Illustrator, SVG
    • Create a new app using knowledge gained during a tutorial
    • How concepts are intertwined to create web apps
    • Use CSS to perform basic manipulation of HTML
    • Write JavaScript code in console applications
    • And more…

  • Weeks 9-12

    During weeks 9-12 you will learn:

    • How to build an application with a team for a client
    • How to interpret technical documentation such as Wireframes, Software Architecture Diagrams, etc.
    • How to manage client scope and deadlines
    • How to resolve merge conflicts and issues
    • And more…

  • Requirements

    Skills: Understanding of basic computer science concepts such as loops, functions, and arrays is preferred. Knowledge of JavaScript may also be helpful, but is not required.

    Hardware: 

    If you have a Windows laptop, here is what you will need to be successful:

    • At least 4 gigs of RAM
    • At least 250 gig of hard drive space
    • Intel i5 or greater/ AMD a10-7800 or greater
    • Windows Version 10 or newer
    • You will also want to clean-off unneeded files and defragment your hard drives before class to maximize your laptop performance during class.

    If you have a Mac computer, here is what you will need to be successful:

    • 2011 MacBooks or newer
    • At least 80 gig hard drive of space
    • Latest MacOSx
    • You will also want to clean-off unneeded files before class to maximize your laptop performance during class.

    Software: A modern web browser (Firefox or Chrome are recommended), a code-friendly text editor (Visual Studio Code, Atom, Sublime Text, Notepad ++) js installed, an SSH key, Git, a Github/Bitbucket account, and a local PostgreSQL database setup.
