Technology Training Programs for Military Veterans

October 20, 2021

Veterans have plenty of adjustments to make as they transition from life as an active duty service member. Eleven Fifty Academy is committed to helping them find their way back into the workforce. Educational benefits make it possible for veterans to get the technical training they need at no cost, and our fast-track bootcamps and courses make it easier to land a job in any technology industry.

If you’re looking for a new career or meaningful employment following a military career, consider our coding bootcamp for veteranstraining programs.

Veterans and military spouses are eligible for a myriad of training programs that make it easier to re-enter the workforce after years of active military service. If you’re looking to enhance knowledge of computer science, or information security, consider programs or bootcamps that provide IT training for these high-demand career tracks.

What Are IT Certifications?

IT certifications open up a world of opportunity for careers in information technology and security. Many veterans are already primed for a new career in IT based on their training in active military service.

The Federal Virtual Training Environment (FedFTE) offers a variety of free courses to many veterans, and GI Bill® benefits also cover tuition for Eleven Fifty courses that support IT certifications.

This eligibility makes it easier for many veterans to enroll in 12-week coding and 14-week cybersecurity bootcamps to quickly get relevant tech training.

Do military benefits pay for my certifications and training?

Veterans who served active duty after September 10, 2001 may qualify for the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. GI Bill® benefits make it easy for eligible veterans and military spouses to pursue IT certifications and re-enter civilian life. Assistance programs that offer job training in the tech industry come with many benefits. The GI Bill® may cover the full cost of tuition for a coding or cybersecurity bootcamp, plus a stipend for housing and books for veterans.

Whether you’re looking to get into an immersive coding bootcamp or enroll in a CompTIA A+ certification program, consider the variety of bootcamps and courses that Eleven Fifty Academy has to offer. We’re certified training providers ready to help those who have served make the most of their education benefits.

What Is the VA VET TEC Program?

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) pilot program Veteran Employment Through Technology Education Courses (VET TEC) makes it easier for veterans to receive free IT certification training. Coursework can be completed online or in-person, knowing that access to hybrid learning opportunities make it easier for veterans and their families to succeed.

Program benefits include:

  • Includes housing stipend
  • Students aren’t directly billed for courses. Payments to the institution are defined by the VA and must be agreed to by the school.

Training and coursework opportunities include:

  • Information science
  • Software
  • Computer programming
  • Data Processing
  • Media Application

Am I Eligible for VET TEC?

To determine your educational benefits status, you must first obtain a Certificate of Eligibility, or COE. The easiest way to get this is by signing into the online VA benefits portal and simply taking a screenshot for documentation. Veterans can also contact the Education Call Center to request a copy of the certificate.

Here’s a look at what the GI Bill® covers for eligible veterans:

  • $13,500–18,000 for tuition*
  • $1,509 housing allowance
  • $1,000 for hooks

*The G.I. Bill can cover full tuition but is dependent on individual eligibility.

Keep in mind that your educational benefits could vary if you choose a part-time program instead of a full-time program.

Military members from all branches, including the National Guard, who meet the education benefit requirements are eligible for funding at Eleven Fifty Academy.
